"I joined and now I have a job!"
Green Action Tourism Programme volunteer Paulina Piotrowska recently moved to Scotland from Poland. ‘Lina’ trained to be a teacher back home and since moving to Grangemouth, volunteered to help at a local school.
As a Paragon tenant, she received a leaflet about the Green Action project and quickly signed up for the Tourism Programme.
Based at The Falkirk Wheel Lina has earned invaluable experience of customer service, working on reception, taking boat trip bookings and serving in the gift shop.
'Lina' so impressed her bosses at The Wheel they offered her a seasonal position.
She has since been leading educational workshops for school parties and translating for Polish tourists.
Paulina says, "I have learned so much and every day is different. I now have a job I really enjoy. I have been able to buy a car and next week I take my driving test!
Green Action has been made a big difference in my life. I am very happy and grateful.”
